Lately I've discovered several news articles about 'Actress Carmen Perez being a political activist involved in the Women's March, etc.' I've also been tagged on my Twitter & Facebook erroneously on the same. YES, I'm actress Carmen Perez, and I did earn a Bachelor's Degree in Government & International Politics, but I chose to become an artist & actress for a living, and not politics. There is another Carmen Perez involved in politics and unfortunately people are mixing and confusing us. I believe in freedom of speech and I admire when people are passionate about causes, but I'm NOT an activist. I act; I create art & music, and my 'activism' is through my arts. One of the songs I wrote in my new music EP is called "He Killed Me (But I Didn't Die)" is dedicated to Domestic Violence issues. Domestic violence is not just physical, it can be psychological too and I think almost everyone has experience a form of it at some point in our lives.
So, for those that come onto my website & blog, I just wanted to make that clear. On Saturday, January 21, 2017, I was NOT at the Women's March. I was working on my new music video and at the NAMM Music Convention, and that is the way I support women and women's rights. I've worked since I was 16 years old and joined the U.S. Army active duty when I was 17 years old for 6 years. I've been independent, I work hard and I earn what I work for. I'm proud to be American, to be able to express myself freely and earn my own money.
Thank you for stopping by & until next time!
